Claude update
Check Claude skills before your team adopts them
Reusable skills can save time, but teams need a simple approval habit before adding automation to real work.
What changed
Anthropic's August 6, 2026 release notes say Enterprise plans can turn on beta skill and plugin security scanning. The feature checks third-party skills and plugins for malicious content when someone uploads or edits them.
This helps admins reduce risk, but it does not remove the need to understand what a skill can access, change or recommend.
Try this
- Create a small approval list for team skills and plugins.
- Check who built it, what it can access and what it is allowed to change.
- Test it with non-sensitive examples before using real files or customer data.
- Write down when the skill should not be used.
Follow-up prompt
"Summarize this skill in plain language. Tell me what it can read, what it can change, and three situations where I should not use it."
Make it easier
Give every approved skill a short human-readable description. People should know what it does before they trust its output.
Check before relying on it
This is listed as an Enterprise beta feature. Confirm availability, admin controls and scanning behavior before making it part of a rollout checklist.
