Microsoft Copilot update
Schedule meetings with Copilot in Outlook chat
Scheduling is often small work, but it creates a lot of switching: availability, rooms, agenda, invite text and follow-up.
What changed
Microsoft's August 25, 2026 Copilot release notes say users can schedule meetings directly from Copilot chat in classic Outlook for Windows or by using the Schedule with Copilot button. Microsoft lists this as Roadmap ID 542185.
Copilot can help find available times, book rooms, draft agendas and prepare invites inside the chat experience. The user still needs to review the meeting details before sending.
Try this
- Open classic Outlook for Windows.
- Start a Copilot chat or select Schedule with Copilot where it is available.
- Ask Copilot to schedule a meeting with named colleagues.
- Review the suggested time, attendees, room, agenda and invite text.
- Send only after checking that the meeting title is clear and the agenda is useful.
Follow-up prompt
"Before creating the invite, show me the proposed time, attendees, room, agenda and any conflicts you found. Keep the agenda to three bullets."
Make it easier
Ask Copilot to keep the agenda short and decision-focused. People can prepare faster when the invite says what will be decided, not only what will be discussed.
Check before relying on it
This feature requires a Microsoft 365 Copilot license and is rolling out in phases. It is listed for classic Outlook for Windows, so check availability before writing internal guidance for every Outlook client.
